Lie and Shaft Lean Calibration with Video Example
Lie Calibration (and Shaft Lean Calibration).
After you have successfully completed the Face Calibration, you can then complete the Lie (and Shaft Lean) Calibration process. Simply line your putter up against the wall, creating a 90° angle between the top of your putter handle (resting against a wall) and the centre point of your putter, ensuring the top level of the putter head is parallel with the ground.
Whilst we perform a Lie Calibration, there is also a simultaneous Shaft Lean calibration going on at the same time. Like with any technology, the more accurate you perform this process, the more accurate the consequent data will be. Herewith is a visual example of Shaft Lean calibration. To understand the nett effect.
If the Shaft is calibrated to 0° then when putting, if the Shaft Lean is consequently perfectly vertical at Impact, then Shaft Lean will = 0° AND Loft Angle will = 3° as the system currently adds 3° for standard loft, relative to the Shaft Lean position.
If as per the image to the right, you were to calibrate the Shaft Lean back by 1° then all consequent measures would be reduced by 1°.
The App Icon will turn from Red to Blue to confirm that Lie Calibration has been completed. Once both calibrations have been completed you can use your Vertex SmartCore Sensor.
NB: All owners of putters that have a built in Shaft Lean (e.g. L.A.B. Golf, Odyssey (Square to Square) etc… by the 4th April, 2025 there will be an App update which will automatically adjust Shaft Lean / Loft numbers for your putter).
